WHATCOM WORLD CUP

Whatcom World Cup is a series of fun, community mountain bike races held Wednesday evenings on Galbraith Mountain each spring and summer. The races are open to all, including youth. Enjoy an evening of racing followed by an after party with beverages and food!

Racers are given timing chips to zip tie to their forks and number plates to attach to their handlebars before each race - the timer starts when you cross the starting mat!

Thank you
Pacific Multi-Sports for managing the registration, timing, and coordinating races with us!

Please note that e-bikes are not permitted to race.

START TIME:

Youth (18 and under) rolling start 5:00 PM, ends 5:30 PM, Adults rolling start 5:30 PM, ends 7:30 PM. Exact timing is subject to sunlight.

CHIP PICK-UP: 4 PM-6 PM at the start of the course (you do not need to wait in the chip line if you have a season pass). Chip timing and results provided by Pacific Multi-Sports. You are responsible for the cost of lost or forgotten timing chips - if you accidentally take one home please return it ASAP to the WMBC office at 770 E Holly St.

REGISTRATION: Register ahead of time online for each race on the Pacific Multi-Sports website. (even if you have a season pass), each race is capped at 200 racers. Registration opens on the Thursday before the race for season pass holders and the Saturday before the race for all.

COST: $20 per race, plus one-time $5 plate (must be WMBC member). No refunds or transfers for missed race days.

YOUTH: Parents/guardians can ride down with youth 10 and under.

SEASON PASS: $200 for  season (includes chip). If you have your chip from 2023, passes are $180. Only 100 passes available. Includes: WWC koozie & custom plate! Season pass registration for 2024 opens on March 25th and closes April 12th.  More details here.

PHOTOS: Take photos and want to share? Email ellie@wmbcmtb.org and we will put them up in a shared folder with attribution details.

APRÉS: Adult beverages are $2 (cash only), all proceeds benefit WMBC. Most aprés are held on mountain and sponsored by local brewery. Beverages/food for racers first. 21+ please get your stamp during chip pick-up!

ORDER: Racers self-seed. 30 seconds between each racer; if you need more time just ask and we will give you a 'ghost rider.' No official separate start time for women, however there is a pause between youth and adults for women-identifying racers. JoyRiders generally put a group together, as well.

POINTS: Points are accumulated each race based on your time, your top 7 best race scores will contribute to your overall score. You are racing against your age group in the following categories: male, female, or non-binary.

HARDTAIL CLASS: Accumulate points for hardtail standings each time you ride a hardtail, you do not have to commit to a season of hardtail riding. Points count toward the overall age group standing, no matter what you're riding.
